  1. George Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770¬≠1831) was one of the most 
  2. influential philosophers of the 19th century. Hegel drew his ideas from 
  3. many areas in his attempt to create an all-encompassing view of 
  4. reality. Hegel‚Äôs metaphysical idealism found influence in many circles, 
  5. including the politics of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, and the 
  6. philosophical schools of phenomenology and existentialism.
